HistoryXing Yi Quan was created by Ji Long Feng (1602 1683) from Zuencun Village of Yongji County in Shanxi Province. Ji travelled to Shaolin Temple, Luoyang in Henan and Qiupu in Shanxi province. Ji passed the art of xing yi on to Cao Ji wu. During the Qing Dynasty, it was passed to Dai Long Bang , Li Neng Ran, Gao Yun Shen, Li Kui Yuan, and then to Sun Lu Tang. There are many styles of internal martial arts, but xing yi quan is one of the three major ancient Chinese boxing arts, the other two being Taiji quan and Ba gua Zhang. In 1983 master Ji Jian Cheng, a professional coach who taught SuFi Jerry Nicholls the fundamentals of Chinese Martial Arts, was sent by the government to study at the prestigious Chengdu Martial Arts Institute in Sichuan province. While there he became the personal student of Master Wang Shu Tian, a well known teacher of Xing Yi and Ba Gua. Wang had studied for a short time with the famous old master Sun Lu Tang and later with Suns senior student Zheng Huai Xian. With master Wang, Ji studied Sun style Xing Yi and Ba gua. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
